Job Title:
Part-time Assistant Project Officer (EDB/SGE/175/26)
Salary:
$310 per hour (Required to work not more than 16 hours per week)
Entry Requirements:
(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, or equivalent. Majoring in social work, counselling, guidance or psychology preferred;
(b) (i) A Bachelor of Education (BEd) / Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) / Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent; or (ii) A teacher's certificate awarded by the former Colleges of Education or the former Hong Kong Institute of Education, or equivalent;
(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note];
(d) At least 4 years' relevant post-degree experience, of which at least 2 years' experience related to the guidance or counselling services at primary or secondary school;
(e) Good oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English, fluent Putonghua preferred;
(f) Good computer knowledge especially in word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and Chinese and English input method;
(g) Good personality and inter-personal communication skills;
(h) Self-motivated, able to work independently and with good communication skills; and
(i) Maybe required to work after normal office hours in order to provide necessary support to the clients and their families.
Note:
For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Duties:
(a) To investigate and follow-up non-attendance cases with a view to bringing the pupils back to school through the use of casework service under the provision of the Education Ordinance in relation to the enforcement of universal basic education;
(b) To liaise and work in co-operation and collaboration with para-professionals so as to ensure that pupils are receiving adequate and proper professional support;
(c) To conduct investigation on the cases who have never admitted to the primary and secondary schools as well as to handle and follow-up the non-attendance cases who have never admitted to the primary schools and secondary schools;
(d) To assist the inspectors in work relation to the enforcement of universal basic education such as the preparation of case summaries for committees, explaining to enquiring parents or teachers with the requirements of the Education Ordinance, preparing handouts and talk material for use in seminars or talks, etc.; and
(e) To perform administrative duties such as the compilation of statistics, keeping of case records, attending job-related workshops, seminars, etc.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year.
