Job Title: Survey Interviewer 
Salary: HK$21,190 per month 
Entry Requirements: Candidates should –
(a) have (i) Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or
(ii) Level 2 (Note 3) / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; and
(b) meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKDSEE or the HKCEE, or equivalent; and
(c) be able to read and write Chinese and English; and
(d) be able to speak fluent Cantonese, Putonghua and English. 
Note: (1) For appointment purpose, “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
(2) The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
(3) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(4) Candidates should possess basic computer operation knowledge.
(5) Working experience related to fieldwork in statistical surveys is preferable. 
Duties: Survey Interviewers are mainly deployed to –
(a) collect statistical information from survey respondents;
(b) answer enquiries on survey matters and assist respondents in connection with the supply of information for surveys; and
(c) perform other fieldwork related duties.
(Note: The post-holder may be required to work irregular hours and/or to undertake a substantial amount of interviewing duties, including telephone interviews and face-to-face interviews by visiting the respondents in person.) 
Terms of Appointment: (a) Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for about 4 to 9 months starting from around February 2027.
(b) Working hours: 8.8 hours daily on Monday to Friday (subject to the exigencies of the service and irregular working hours may be required).
(c) Working place(s):
(i) Any office(s) of the Census and Statistics Department; and
(ii) Location(s) of selected survey respondents. 
Fringe Benefits The eligibility for the annual leave, rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. 
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. (h) Towards the application deadline, the on-line system would likely be overloaded due to large volume of applications. To ensure timely completion of your on-line application, it is advisable to submit the application as early as possible.

(b) Copies of documents in support of academic qualifications (including results achieved in Chinese and English languages, certificates and official transcripts), technical qualifications and working experience (if applicable), should be submitted to the email address (st_recruitment@censtatd.gov.hk) on or before 11 September 2026. Please specify clearly in the email subject “Application for the position of Survey Interviewer” and the online application number should be quoted in the email and the attachment’s name. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful transmission via email, all relevant supporting documents should be combined into one file with a file size not exceeding 25MB as far as possible.
(c) If applications are late or incomplete, or not made in the prescribed form, or submitted in person, by post, by fax or by email, or without copies of the relevant supporting documents, or if the relevant supporting documents are received after the above specified dates or are insufficient, such applications will NOT be considered.

(e) Candidates who are invited for selection interview will receive an invitation in about eight weeks from the closing date for applications. Those who do not receive any invitation to the selection interview can assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
