Job Title: Veterinarian (Part-time) 
Salary: $ 528 per hour 
Entry Requirements: Candidates should : (1) be registered as a veterinary surgeon and holding a valid practising certificate issued under the Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance, Cap. 529*; (2) have at least one year of experience in practice and preferably with large animal experience; (3) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and (4) Preference will be given to candidates with a valid Hong Kong driving license (Classes 1 & 2).

Note: (1) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
(2)The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
(3)‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. 
Duties: The Veterinarian (part-time) is mainly deployed on: (1) providing professional advice on equine health in order to safeguard the health and performance of racehorses in Hong Kong; (2) issuing official health certificate and endorse the required documents for animal or animal product exportation; (3) assisting in operation, management, and review of the Division; (4) assisting in the supervision of laboratory operations and applying professional scientific advice in collaboration with laboratory partners and Mainland competent authorities; (5) assisting the Division Head in handling testing accreditation and animal disease risk analysis; (6) supervising the implementation and enforcement of the following Ordinances and sub-legislation: Public Health (Animals and Birds) Ordinance, Cap. 139; prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance, Cap. 169; and Rabies Ordinance, Cap. 421; (7) performing routine professional input for animal infectious diseases; and (8) performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors. 
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on 1 year non-civil service contract terms. 
General Notes: (A) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(G) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
