Job Title: Survey Officer (Land) 
Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 9 (HK$25,620 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 22 (HK$50,215 per month) 
Entry Requirements: Candidates should have –
(a) a Higher Diploma in Geomatics/Land Surveying and Geoinformatics, or a Diploma/Higher Certificate in Land Surveying and Cartography, from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or a technical college/technical institute, or equivalent [Note (1)];
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [Note (2)]; and
(c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) [Note (3)]. 
Note: (1) Candidates without the requisite academic qualification stated in entry requirement (a) above, but who are undergoing studies with a view to obtaining the requisite qualification by 31 December 2026 may also apply; if selected, appointment will be subject to their obtaining the requisite academic qualification by the date specified above.
(2) For civil service appointment purpose, “Grade C” and “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” and “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(3) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process. 
Duties: A Survey Officer (Land) is mainly deployed on –
(a) carrying out surveying tasks including field surveying, computing, data processing and plotting;
(b) undertaking Land Information System related data input and updating work;
(c) undertaking Common Spatial Data Infrastructure related data collection, input, updating and analysing work; and
(d) checking plans and spatial data.
(Note: May be required to post to other government departments, work irregular hours, work in any part of Hong Kong and work outdoor in heavy traffic, hilly and remote areas, and in inclement weather conditions.) 
Terms of Appointment: A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms. 
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. How to apply: (a) Applicants must apply online through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau ( https://www.csb.gov.hk ) on or before 29 July 2026. Applications which are incomplete or submitted in person, by post, by fax or by e-mail will NOT be accepted.

(b) Applicants should submit required supporting documents: (a) scanned copies of all relevant certificates and academic transcripts of studies; and (b) scanned copies of employment proof (e.g. letter of employment and salary proof) via e-mail to daoar@landsd.gov.hk on or before 5 August 2026. The supporting documents should be sent as attachments in the e-mail. The title of the post being applied for and the online application number should be quoted in the subject of the e-mail and copies of the supporting documents.

(c) If the required supporting documents are not provided, insufficient or are submitted after the deadline specified in item (b) above, such applications may NOT be considered.

(d) Candidates should provide an accurate e-mail address in their applications and ensure that their e-mail accounts can receive incoming e-mails properly. Candidates are responsible for checking their e-mails to ensure that the invitations or notifications will be duly received. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation by e-mail in about 7 to 9 weeks from the closing date for application, but this timing is subject to change without prior notification to applicants. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
