Salary: $38,505 per month 
Entry Requirements: The applicant should have: (a) A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree majoring in Biology, Education, Political Studies, Communication Studies, Economics, and Sociology or related disciplines, or equivalent; (b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary education institution, or equivalent; (c) Met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent; (d) At least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in teaching at secondary level; (e) A good knowledge of integrating Information Technology into learning and teaching; (f) Proficiency in computer knowledge and internet research for developing and sourcing e-resources; and (g) Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. 
Duties: The ERO is mainly deployed on: (a) designing and updating educational materials and website; (b) translating materials relevant to animal management and welfare; (c) sourcing, evaluating and compiling information on animal management and welfare from government websites of other countries; (d) assisting in developing e-resources for students at primary and junior secondary level to facilitate e-learning of animal care and responsible pet ownership; (e) maintaining and updating the website content and assisting in evaluating its effectiveness; (f) preparing and giving talks and seminars to students and members of the public; (g) performing any other duties as required for enhancing public education on animal management and animal welfare; and (h) performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors. 
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on 1 year non-civil service contract terms. 
Fringe Benefits Rest days, public holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. 14 days paid annual leave will be granted but there will be no end-of-contract gratuity. 
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by e-mail or mail to the above enquiry address.

How to apply: Applicants must apply online through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau (https://www.csb.gov.hk) on or before the closing date. Applicants must provide their email addresses on the application forms. Applications which are incomplete, late or submitted in person, by post, by fax or by e-mail will not be considered. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about twelve to sixteen weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

For candidates holding qualifications obtained from academic institutions outside Hong Kong, copies of diplomas/certificates, transcripts of studies and official documents issued by the relevant academic institutions stating the mode of delivery of the study programmes should be submitted to the designated e-mail address (personnel_registry@afcd.gov.hk) one week within the closing date with the post under application specified in the email subject. The online application number should also be quoted in the e-mail and every page of the supporting documents.

Candidates who hold academic qualifications awarded by local institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority are not required to submit photocopies of the official transcripts and certificates at this stage of application.
