Job Title: Summer Intern (Conservation Office) - Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2024 
Salary: HK$11,200 per month 
Entry Requirements: 1. Applicants must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
2. Applicants must currently be a full-time Year 2 student under 3-year curriculum or a full-time Year 3 student under 4-year curriculum of an undergraduate programme in a tertiary education institution in Hong Kong or overseas with their major field of study in one of the following subjects: - Conservation of Cultural Relics, Applied Chemistry / Chemistry, Materials Science or Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
3. Applicants who possess good computer literacy and experience in laboratory work and research project are preferable. 
Note: 1. Successful candidate may be required to conduct their internship in non-LCSD venue.
2. Late or incomplete applications, or applications submitted by fax will NOT be considered.
3. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation within four weeks from the closing date for application. Interview will be held in early June 2024. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
4. No alternative arrangements will be made for those who failed to attend the interview and their applications will NOT be further processed.
5. Candidates who are invited for selection interview, please produce the original copies of the official transcripts.

Duties: 1. To assist in mounting and dismounting of museum exhibitions and conservation works;
2. to assist in the preservation and environmental monitoring programmes for museum collections;
3. to conduct researches and scientific analyses in conservation projects
4. to maintain conservation records and reference materials at the Resource Centre; and/or
5. to organize and run education and extension programmes. 
Terms of Appointment: Summer student interns are employed on non-civil service contract terms for around 1.5 months from July to August 2024 (depending on office exigencies, the actual employment period for different cases may vary). Summer interns are normally required to work 44 hours per week and may also be required to work outside normal office hours, during weekends or public holidays. Overtime work, where necessary, will be compensated by time-off in lieu. 
Fringe Benefits Summer interns are eligible for rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays and sickness days. They are subject to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 485). 
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

How to apply: 1. Applicants Studying Full-time in Local Tertiary Education Institutions
All local applications (including those from students of local tertiary education institutions who are currently participating in exchange programmes at tertiary education institutions outside Hong Kong) must be routed through the tertiary education institutions that the applicants are currently enrolling in. Applicants are required to approach the responsible Student Affairs Offices/Career Centres of their tertiary education institutions direct to check whether their respective institutions are invited for nominations, the details on the application procedures and the deadlines set by the respective institutions. Direct application submitted to the Conservation Office will not be considered.

2. Applicants Studying Full-time outside Hong Kong
Hong Kong students studying at tertiary education institutions outside of Hong Kong (excluding students of local tertiary education institutions who are currently participating in exchange programmes at tertiary education institutions outside Hong Kong) should complete their application forms which can be downloaded from the website of the Civil Service Bureau (http://www.csb.gov.hk/english/admin/appoint/782.html). Completed Application Forms with copies of official transcript of studies and a documentary proof of the student status are required to reach the Conservation Office (address detailed below) by post or by email (apychau@lcsd.gov.hk) on or before the closing date of application (according to postmark). Please specify on the e-mail or envelope "Application for the Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2024". Applicants should ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting so as to avoid unsuccessful delivery of application. Any underpaid mail items will be returned or disposed of by the Hongkong Post.
