Candidates should (a) have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent; (b) have one year of experience in patrol / messengerial / cleansing / horticultural / labouring / surveying duties; and (c) be able to communicate in Chinese and simple English, to read simple Chinese and simple English, and to write simple Chinese or simple English.
1. Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
2. All qualifications and working experience required should be obtained on or before the closing date for application.
3. For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
mainly deployed on -
(a) performing general office duties: assisting the receipt and dispatch of documents, mailing of letters, handling fax messages, photocopying, sorting and binding documents;
(b) eviction of unauthorized persons / removal of articles: assisting in (i) seizure of paraphernalia and goods causing obstruction; (ii) demolition of illegal extension erected by unauthorized operators; (iii) removal of bulky abandoned articles in common areas of estates; and (iv) eviction of tenants, unauthorized occupants / trespassers and vacated premises;
(c) participating in law-enforcement duties: assisting in (i) enforcement of traffic by-laws, including impounding of vehicles causing obstruction on estate restricted areas; (ii) anti-hawking activities such as preventing the intrusion of illegal hawkers and participating in anti-hawking operations; and (iii) anti-littering activities;
(d) performing land surveying duties: assisting in (i) safe-keeping, repair, maintenance and preparation of survey equipments for field operations; (ii) survey work including communication through hand signals and radio transceivers in field operations; and (iii) emergency survey work outside normal working hours; and
(e) performing other duties: assisting in (i) horticultural works including planting, pruning, watering, grass cutting; (ii) pantry and related duties; and (iii) setting up of venues for exhibition/ promotional activities/ lectures/ press conferences/ HA meetings; acting as security guards for exhibits and equipments; delivering, setting up and operating AV and PC equipments; and delivering documents for incineration/ off-site storage.
A Workman II may be required to (i) work in remote areas and irregular hours; and (ii) perform shift, emergency, outdoor and / or overtime duties as necessary.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend trade test.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the trade test without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Candidates are not required to submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the above contact address at this stage.

Application forms [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)] are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centre of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Applications will be processed according to the information provided on the application form, therefore candidates must fill in the application form duly and clearly, including personal particulars, qualification attainment and working experience they have attained by the closing date for application (i.e. 6 September 2019).
Applications submitted in person or by post should reach the contact address on or before the closing date for application (i.e. 6 September 2019). Please specify “Application for Workman II” on the envelope. To avoid delay or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. Applicants may also apply online through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Applications which are not made in the prescribed form, or incomplete, or not signed, or the information provided on the application form fails to show clearly that you have the qualifications or requirements specified for the job, or late, or submitted by email or fax will not be considered.
Candidates who are selected for trade test will normally receive an invitation (by post) in about ten to fourteen weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for trade test may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
