Project Officer (Funding Scheme) (EDB/EI/195/19)
$44,126 per month
(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, preferably majoring in English, or equivalent;
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, preferably majoring in English, or equivalent;
(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note];
(d) At least 5 years' post-degree experience in teaching English in local public sector schools, preferably at primary level;
(e) Experience in administrative work and/or vetting proposals in the Education Bureau preferred; and
(f) Applicants will be required to attend an interview and a written test.
For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(a) To conduct initial assessment of schools' proposals for the "Grant Scheme on Promoting Effective English Language Learning in Primary Schools" and liaise with schools for clarification before proposal submission;
(b) To serve as secretary in vetting panel meetings;
(c) To follow up with schools on revision of proposals in light of the vetting panels' advice/recommendations;
(d) To monitor schools' progress on implementation of approved school-based curriculum initiatives;
(e) To evaluate the implementation of measures undertaken by schools;
(f) To liaise with relevant EDB sections/divisions and SCOLAR Members on the implementation of the Scheme;
(g) To render support to large-scaled events related to the Language Fund;
(h) To report regularly to the supervisors on work progress; and
(i) To perform any other duties as and when required by the supervisors.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms up to 3 October 2020.
(a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
