Occupational Therapist I
Master Pay Scale Point 25 (HK$48,540 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 33A (HK$70,590 per month) Note(1)
Candidates should have –
(a) registered in Hong Kong in Part I of the Register of Occupational Therapists under the Supplementary Medical Professions Ordinance (Cap. 359) Note(2); and
(b) a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Occupational Therapists Board of Hong Kong Note (2); and
(c) at least 3 years of relevant post-registration experience Notes(1) and (2); and
(d) met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” Note(3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese. (Please also see Note (4) below.)
(Remarks: Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.)
(1) Incremental credit for experience will not be granted to the successful candidate(s) upon offer of appointment.
(2) Candidates should submit a copy of supporting documents of relevant qualification/work experience.
(3) For civil service appointment purpose, Grade “C” and Grade “E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” and “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(4) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment.
An Occupational Therapist I is mainly deployed on –
(a) conducting occupational therapy related assessments, providing support and therapy, and co-ordinating for the rehabilitation of clients;
(b) assisting in the planning of occupational therapy related service, including health promotion activities;
(c) delivering talks related to occupational therapy, and conducting related health promotion programmes, including taking part in media interviews and producing health educational materials;
(d) giving on-the-job training to junior staff and officers in other grades;
(e) participating in planning and conducting occupational therapy related research and health education projects; and
(f) performing related administrative duties.
(Remarks: The above duties mainly involve providing services for the elderly and their carers in a primary care setting and may be required to work irregular hours.)
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the contact addressbelow.

The application period for the post of Occupational Therapist I is from 23 August 2019 (Friday) to 5 September 2019 (Thursday).
Application Forms (G.F. 340 [(Rev. 3/2013)]) are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
Applications submitted in person or by post should reach the contact address below together with the required documents mentioned in Note (2). Please specify “Application for the post of Occupational Therapist I in Department of Health” on the envelope. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. Applicants may also apply online through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Applications submitted by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.

Please clearly mark on the envelope “Application for the post of Occupational Therapist I in Department of Health”, and quote the online application number on the envelope and every page of the copies of the documents. Please do not send originals of transcripts/certificates.
If candidates fail to provide the supporting documents as required, their applications will not be considered. Applicants are encouraged to provide their email addresses on the application forms. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about ten weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
