Job Title: Works Supervisor I (Civil) 
Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 13 ($27,340) to Master Pay Scale Point 16 ($31,685) per month 
Entry Requirements: Candidates should have (a) a Certificate in civil engineering studies from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; (b) at least 3 years' relevant post-qualification experience; and (c) met the language proficiency requirements of (i) Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note (2)]; and (ii) Secondary 3 standard or above in Chinese Language, or equivalent. 
Note: 1. All qualifications and working experience required should be obtained on or before the closing date for application.
2. For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
3. May be required to perform emergency service duties and work outside normal office hours.
4. For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate's overall assessment. 
Duties: A Works Supervisor I (Civil) is mainly deployed on (a) assisting in site supervision of more complicated civil and geotechnical engineering works and foundation and demolition works for sites under the Housing Authority's purview; (b) preparing site records; and (c) carrying out structural investigation with more difficult nature and supervising site testings. 
Terms of Appointment: A new recruit will normally be appointed on a 3-year agreement terms prior to consideration for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms. 
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Completed forms, together with copies of certificates and transcripts in support of the (a) academic qualifications (including photocopies of certificates and transcripts showing the results achieved in Chinese and English languages); (b) technical qualifications; and (c) support documents of working experience, should reach the Appointments Sub-section in the Housing Department (see the below contact address) on or before 30 August 2019. Please specify “Application for the post of Works Supervisor I (Civil)” on the envelope.
