Job Title: Part-time Intellectual Property Tutor 
Salary: $308 per hour 
Entry Requirements: Candidates should have –
(a)(i) a Certificate in Education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent; or
(ii) not less than 8 years’ working experience in relation to protection of intellectual property rights; and
(b) a good command of written Chinese and English and spoken Cantonese and English with Level 2 or above in both Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.

(Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.) 
Note: (i) Upon initial vetting, eligible candidates will be invited to attend a tailor-made training course tentatively on 3 September 2019 and a quiz on intellectual property (IP), on 6 September 2019 respectively. (ii) Candidates need not pay for the training, but they will not receive remuneration of any sort or be reimbursed the travelling expenses. (iii) Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their results of the quiz. 
Duties: Successful candidates are required to –
(a) develop effective learning and teaching strategies/activities and resource materials on the subject of IP for teaching students in primary and secondary schools;
(b) conduct IP talks/seminars in schools or youth organizations as assigned, the school talks/seminars may fall into anytime during normal school hours (around 8:30am to 3:30pm) or day time on Saturdays (around 8:30am to 3:30pm);
(c) gather questions raised during talks/seminars or in schools or youth organizations and collect feedbacks or comments from schools or youth organizations;
(d) share IP knowledge with teachers/students in schools or tutors/members of youth organizations and clarify their concerns regarding IP if appropriate; and
(e) perform any other duties relating to the Programme as and when required by Intellectual Property Department. 
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms up to 31 August 2020. 
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institution/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the enquiry address. 
How to apply: (a) Candidates should complete the application form [G.F. 340 (Rev.3/2013)] and provide a full curriculum vitae (C.V.) when applying for the vacancy. The C.V. must include –
(i) gradings of the subjects taken in public examinations from secondary education onwards (with copies of local/overseas academic certificates and transcripts); and
(ii) employment records with detailed description of duty.
(b) The application form [G.F. 340 (Rev.3/2013)] is obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centre of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centre of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. It can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
(c) The completed application form and C.V. can be sent by post to the enquiry address and should be submitted on or before the closing date for application (the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of submission of application). Please specify on the envelope “Application for the post of Part-time Intellectual Property Tutor”.
(d) To avoid unsuccessful delivery of mail items, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been paid before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hong Kong Post, where appropriate. An applicant will bear any consequences arising from not paying sufficient postage.
(e) Applications which are late, incomplete, submitted by fax or by e-mail or not made in the prescribed form will NOT be considered.
(f) Applications with incomplete, unclear information or without required photocopies of the above documents will not be considered.
(g) Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation within eight weeks after the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
