Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 (HK$13,040 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 (HK$15,365 per month)
Candidates should :
(a) have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent;
(b) be able to communicate in Cantonese / Chinese and simple English;
(c) be able to read simple Chinese and simple English;
(d) be able to write simple Chinese or simple English; and
(e) have knowledge of operating common office equipment.
(1) The post is open to both male and female.
(2) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
(3) Candidates may be required to pass a trade test.
A Workman II is mainly deployed on:
(a) performing general labouring duties including moving furniture and store items, loading and unloading stores and office equipment, setting up / dismantling mills barriers, setting up of venue, venue cleansing, car cleansing, etc.;
(b) performing messengerial duties such as receipt and despatch, by-hand delivery of documents / stores / stationery items, postal service-related duties, indoor / outdoor collection, etc.;
(c) performing simple office work including filing, duplicating, photocopying, handling fax messages, sorting and / or binding of documents and operating other office automation equipment, etc.;
(d) performing general administration support duties including provision of pantry services, tea services, escort outsiders, hygiene checking and other supporting services; and
(e) assisting in stores management, performing gardening and feeding of police dogs.
[Remarks : Successful candidates are :-
(a) Subject to (i) posting and transfer within the department at the discretion of the Hong Kong Police Force; and (ii) posting to fill vacancies and carry out different duties in the same grade in other bureaux/departments when the need arises;
(b) Required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal break); and
(c) May be required to (i) work shifts, irregular hours, overtime and in adverse weather condition; (ii) work in remote areas and perform outdoor duties; (iii) wear uniform; and (iv) perform duties under conditions of emergency / typhoon / other natural disasters.]
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the below contact address.

Application Forms [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)] are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
Applicants should state clearly in their application forms details of their academic qualifications, skills and working experience. Completed application forms, together with copies of (a) certificates and transcripts in support of the academic qualifications; and (b) supporting documents of working experience, submitted in person or by post should reach the Appointments Unit, 35/F, Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong on or before 27 June 2019. Please specify the title of the post being applied for on the envelope.
To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will NOT be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application and /or submission of supporting documents.

For applicants who apply on-line, they should submit copies of the required supporting documents in person or by post to the above contact address on or before 5 July 2019. The on-line application number should be quoted on the envelope and copies of the supporting documents.
If applications are late or incomplete, or not made in the prescribed form, or submitted by fax or e-mail, or without copies of the relevant supporting documents, or if the relevant supporting documents are received after the above specified dates or are insufficient, such applications will NOT be considered.
Candidates who are selected for trade test/interview will normally receive an invitation in about 14 to 16 weeks from the closing date for application. Longer time may be required under certain circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received. Those who are not invited for trade test/interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful
