Agricultural Management Officer
$41,945 per month
The applicant should have (a) a Hong Kong first or second class honours degree in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science / Agriculture / Agricultural Science / Horticulture / Plant Protection / Environmental Science / Agricultural Economics / Economics, or equivalent; (b) three years’ post-graduate experience in an appropriate field or a Hong Kong higher degree or post-graduate diploma in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science / Agriculture / Agricultural Science / Horticulture / Plant Protection / Environmental Science / Agricultural Economics / Economics, or equivalent; and (c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.
(Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.)
An Agricultural Management Officer is mainly deployed on (a) undertaking research or advisory work in horticulture such as greenhouse production technology, hydroponic production technology, organic cultivation, farm production and crop nutrition, plant protection; or (b) undertaking studies or work in agricultural economics, development and extension as well as leisure farming; or (c) undertaking studies or work in relation to crop safety at farm, promotion of crop farm development, related data, information collection and survey; or (d) undertaking studies or work in administration of the Sustainable Agricultural Development Fund; or (e) undertaking studies or work in urban crop production systems, modern marketing and brand building strategies, agro-technology, farm mechanization and automation; and (f) performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on 1 year non-civil service contract terms.
Rest days, public holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. 14 days paid annual leave will be granted but there will be no gratuity.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the below enquiry address.

Application Forms [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)] are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centre of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centre of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed forms should reach the enquiry address of the recruiting department on or before the closing date for application. Please mark on envelope the title of the job applied for. On-line application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority should deliver or send by post copies of their official transcripts, diplomas / certificates and other relevant qualification documents to the department at the enquiry address within one week after close of application (please clearly state the on-line application number on every page of the documents). Applications which are incomplete, late or submitted by fax / email will not be considered. Please ensure that sufficient postage is paid if the completed application form and required supporting documents are sent by post. Underpaid mail items will not be delivered by Hongkong Post. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about ten to twelve weeks from the closing date for application.
